Princess Ida

University of the Arts - Caplan Studio Theatre

PRINCESS IDA
Libretto by William S. Gilbert
Music by Sir Arthur Sullivan
directed by Kate Galvin
Caplan Studio Theater
September 20 – 24

Ida leads a band of women who have forsworn the company of men and established an all-girls college, but three men disguise themselves as ladies in order to infiltrate the college. Once their disguise is revealed, it leads to a full-blown battle of the sexes, complete with arrows and armor. A hilarious satire of the nineteenth century Women’s Rights movement.
